Blossom Community Snack

Why Snack Time Matters

In our Montessori classroom, snack time is more than just eating. It’s an opportunity for children to practice independence. From 8:30 am to 10:30 am, they can choose when to have a snack. They will serve themselves, decide how much to eat, and clean up afterward. We will display “snack cards” with pictures of the day’s snack. For example, they might make “Banana Sushi”—serving themselves 4 crackers, spreading nut butter on them, and topping them with a banana slice. This helps them learn to listen to their bodies, make choices, and care/clean up for themselves. They have a second snack offered in the afternoons from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm.

How You Can Help

Sign up’s are available for families to volunteer for the community snack. When it’s your turn to provide snacks, we’ll send home a simple grocery list. The list will include a small variety of healthy foods that are easy for the children to serve themselves. Your contribution will help the children have the nourishment they need as they work and learn.
